Great compost bin I've had a Mantis Compost bin for 30 years. Last year it finally had problems and I needed another. I thought 30 years for a compost bin life was quite amazing. I bought another one just like the old one, had to assemble this one but the two of us managed it and I love it. The metal design helps heat up the leaves and grass by being in the sunshine and makes compost quite quickly even in Colorado winters. My November leaves will become compost by February. I've recommended it to my family and friends.

Our Second: Best one we’ve found We were so happy to find this tumbler available again. We just purchased our second. Our first one rusted out after maybe 10 years. We couldn’t find this kind, so we shopped around and tried another kind, but like all the others we found, it had doors that are too small to fit a pitchfork. What? So we patched our Mantis tumbler with sheet metal and got a few more years out of it, but other parts rusted through, and thankfully we found it’s available again. Though we know this one will eventually deteriorate, 10 years isn’t bad, and it’s the most functional compost tumbler on the market. We assembled the new one today: FYI, it takes two people to assemble.

This replaced my 20 something year old model My first ComposTumbler was picked up by my husband off the curb in a residential area. We used it for 20 years, I don't know how old it was when we got it. It has been outside in the elements of the upper midwest since the day we brought it home and it was showing it's age. I needed to replace my beloved compost tumbler.I looked at other tumblers, since my love of composting has not waned and my aging back does not want to turn compost by hand. I admit that I had to think hard about spending this much money on a compost tumbler and considered the cheaper models and read the reviews.I thought hard about my options. I considered how much compost I had made lover the years with my old compostumbler (which was free) and compared that to what it would have costed at a garden center or department store.I thought about my aching back if I went back to the old method of turning a pile by hand. I thought about what would it cost and how hard would it be to replace the 20 something year old rusting metal of my old composter.A lot of thought ... and it said it was RED!! I looked elsewhere because I didn't want a Red one, but decided to settle for the cost savings...I wad delighted that it is not RED!! It is Green, just like my old one. I bit brighter, shinier and no rust spots but the exact same composter that I had grown to love.Seriously- if you love to compost and are tired or sore from turning your piles... this composter is totally worth the money! You won't regret it.Hint: I do add red wigglers in the summer to speed up the composting. They are fun to see multipied after a tumble.

It isn't red! I have one of these 30 years old. Works great. Wanted a second one because the first is still so good. AMAZON text said it was red. I considered going to a farm store in our area that sells them for another $200, but $200 can by lots paint to turn it green, so I decided to buy from Amazon. It delivered green, just like the old one. YAY! Definitely helps to have 2 people for assembly, one for holding and one for tightening bolts, but goes together easily enough. No missing parts.

Best composter ever Got tired of messing around with less expensive and poorly made composters and finally got the one I always wanted. Should have just started with this one.It wasn't easy to put together but I managed it with a little help. Solid, well made. Turning it can be a workout but it is easier than the other spinners.

This is my ONLY composter I’ve used this composter for many years. I’m guessing since it came out in the 90’s. I wouldn’t even consider another brand. I have made incredible compost when I was a brand new gardener, and she’s still with me as a Master Gardener. I remembered it was expensive, but worth every dollar. As you can see in the photo’s, it has been well used and loved. After a damaging hail storm last year, it doesn’t close properly and leaks water. I will be saving my money to get a new one in the spring of 2024!
